My Path to Becoming a Writer
After a long tenure as a technical editor, the young writer who took over my position encouraged me to try NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). This stream-of-conscious writing project, which requires participants to create a draft novel of no less than 50,000 words in thirty days, was both exhilarating and freeing. I rediscovered my passion for words, and haven’t stopped writing since.
My work is inspired by the drama of everyday life as it unfolds around me. I find that my creativity is nourished by solitude, my garden, good coffee, and reading books that inspire me. I write out of Tucson, Arizona, supervised by two dog friends and a black cat, who thinks his place is straddling my keyboard.
I hope to see my novel, DANCING BETWEEN THE BEATS, published in 2019. Check the Short Fiction + Poetry page for links to some of my published work.
My flash fiction and short works have appeared in the following online and print publications:
I was interviewed about my writing by The Muffin, WOW! Women on Writing’s blog (October 2013 and January 2014).
